Who can apply

  • A private limited company, LLP or registered partnership firm
  • Within the age and turnover limits set by the current notification
  • Working on innovation, improvement of products or services, or a scalable business model
  • Not formed by splitting up or reconstructing an existing business

Key benefits

  • Self-certification under certain labour and environmental laws
  • Faster patent examination and reduced patent and trademark fees
  • Relaxed criteria in public procurement
  • Eligibility to apply for income-tax exemption and many government funding schemes

How to apply

  1. Create an account on the Startup India portal
  2. Fill in company details, sector and a short description of your innovation
  3. Upload the incorporation certificate and supporting documents
  4. Track the application and download your certificate once approved
